Economy Should Serve Us

Economy has been a hot topic now with Europe and the USA in the front page of the news. People suffering because there are no work. But the main problem is not so much because the economy is bad, the problem is because the people who are running the economy are greedy! Corporations and other business interests has nothing but profits in mind. They want the economy to grow, they want there industries and specific companies to grow faster to have more money. If we continue to have this kind of mindset, suffering will grow unabated.

We should have a change of mindset. We should not be focusing on the economy, instead we should focus on the people. The economy should serve the people not the other way around. Example in the field of agriculture, because companies wanted to earn more, they want to have more harvests, so they experimented on GMO products, and more fertilizers at the expense of nature. We have seen how this modifications in the genetic make up of plants had lead to people dying of diseases unknown before. Instead of the mindset of having more harvests for profits, the mindset producing foods for the wellness of the people.

People are scrambling every morning to go to there offices and has become slaves to the work. It seems like, the human being is reduced to a mere slave of the economy. This is modern slavery! In the modern day slavery, we are serving a new master called economy. We work because we want to earn, so we can buy the necessary things needed in order to live. But is this life? Is life just about work? We are not robots, we are human beings! We run the economy not the economy running us!

The human being should be at the center not the economy! One thing I find perplexing is that in the news, its all about how to make the economy work again, nobody talks about the quality of life that is being affected. They talked about how the stock markets are dipping down, they even talk about percentages and numbers, and yet not talk about the people behind it! Austerity measures made and the first thing that is cut off are the basic services. Of all the the things, the basic services are important to the people. We are now serving a new master, the master called economy!

We keep on making the economy grow for what? For more profits? Yes, its good to have more profits if its use for the betterment of the people. Accumulating wealth for sake of accumulating it doesn't help at all. All those billionaires should spread out there money now. We are all passing in this life, no one is permanent. Might as well use the best of time while we are here bringing the quality of life of people. So many are suffering because of this mindset of profit. Wars because of want for profits and lust for power, famine because of greed and global warming because of selfishness.

We should not be serving the economy, the economy should serve us!
