Matthew 7:7-12
To me, this
passage is one of the most positive and hopeful verses you can find in the
bible. When you ask, you will receive; when you seek, you will find; and, when
you knock, the door will be opened.
Jesus put
up a very good argument, he said, if those we consider bad people can even be
generous to the one close to them, how much more his Father in heaven be
generous to those who ask Him? It calls us to be persistent in our prayer
because God will never deprive us of good things.
On the
other hand, Jesus is trying to tell us that if those we consider wicked can
give good things to their children how much more are we who follow Him? We who
call ourselves as Christians should be the first to answer to the cry of those
who are asking, seeking and knocking.
We must be
the answered prayer to their deepest longings, the fulfillment to what they are
seeking, and the open door to their hopeless conditions.
How can I
be an answered prayer, a fulfillment and an open door to others?
