The Joy of Mission

The joy of mission comes from real encounter. We hear stories, learn from their lives and enjoy their company. Mission encounters are glimpses of heaven, moments of hope and where the divine becomes tangible. To have joy in mission then is to be open to encounter. It is to be open to listen to stories and conversation. It is hard to find joy in mission if we are closed.

Heart

A complaining heart is a tired heart. It is a heart either filled with pride or envy. Irrational are the decisions coming from a complaining heart. How is your heart? Is it capable of looking at the other side? Is it still able to see the good?

There are valid complaints for sure, however it is different when we make faultfinding our mantra in life.

Posture of the Heart

What is our reason for service? Who is our reason for service? Jesus, we answer right away. However our actions and actuations speaks something else. It is therefore necessary examine ourselves if we are to grow. Communal life is important in achieving this, because we have blind spots. The challenge though is not that we don’t know our blind spots because most of the time we do. Our challenge is to acknowledge it, if we are to grow.

The posture of our heart is very important, because if it is not directed towards Jesus, it is selfish even if it is service.
