Be Calm

Jesus in today’s gospel rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Quiet now! Be calm!” Mark 4:35-41.

This gospel reading is such a wonderful image of Gods fidelity to His people. He cares! Much more in times of turbulent seas and howling winds of our lives! Even now, we can hear Him saying, “Trust me, yes, you can trust me. If you cannot handle it any longer just surrender to me and I’ll do it for you. You will reach the shore safe.”

We can hear Him say to us as well, “Be quiet now, be calm. You are safe with me.”

Thank you Jesus. Stella Maris, Mary, Star of the Sea, help us to reach the shore. Amen.

To Do His Will

In the gospel of Mark 3:31-35, Jesus said, “Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother.”

We are in a right relationship if we do the will of God. Relationship that is in the will of God flourishes.

Lord, teach us to do your will. Amen.

On Sickness

Sickness is such a good reminder of human frailty. When we are sick we are confronted with the reality that we are not forever. It brings us to the most basic truth, we are nothing without God.

Sickness makes us humble.

Lord Jesus we acknowledge that we are nothing without you. Grant us always a healthy mind, body and spirit. Amen.

Love Changes Us

An encounter with love is an encounter of something true, good and beautiful. No matter how stubborn we can be, when we encounter real love, we are changed for good. But first, are we able to recognize love? Are we able to appreciate love as it is, not as what we want it to be? Do we receive it openly?

Real love changes us for good.
