I attended last week the Clergy and Lay Congress
organized by Couples For Christ. One of the presentations there was the video
about the mission of the community together with the local churches all over
the world where CFC is present. What caught my attention was the background
music used in the audio visual presentation. It was the chant “Amare et
Servire” (Love and Serve) a shorten Latin form of Saint Ignatius “In Omnibus
Amare, In Omnibus Servire” which means “In Everything Love, In Everything,
Serve”.
Very simple phrase yet speaks so much truth and beauty
of real Christian life. This sums up what every Christian should do! This has
to be our posture towards others whenever, wherever or however we are. Very
inspiring indeed! Love without service is like a body with a mouth but without
a colon. Service without love on the other hand is like a body without a soul.
It is just for a show. The fruit of love can never be but service. When we are
in love, service becomes self-giving and inspiring. Love inspires us to serve!
Real service comes from a loving heart and a loving heart comes from a deep
relationship with a loving God.
Lord, teach us to love like you so we can serve like
you. Amen.
