We have this passage from Matthew 16:24 that says, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
This is very hard, we say. And then, slowly we learn to deny and then we start taking up our cross only to find that when we deny ourselves we find even greater joy. Amazing grace!
