The gospel reading from John 3:16-21 tells us how God
loves us so much that he gave his only begotten Son. He is the light who has
come and yet men still choose darkness.
When we are faced with choices between good and evil,
sometimes it’s really mind-boggling why we still choose the evil. Do we choose
the evil and the dark because we are used to it and that we are not capable of
risking beyond it and seeing the good, the light and the beautiful?
The gospel continues, “And
indeed, everybody who does wrong hates the light and avoids it, for fear his
actions should be exposed; but the man who lives by the truth comes out into
the light, so that it may be plainly seen that what he does is done in God.”
Truth cannot be but
beautiful because it belongs to the light. If we are telling the truth then we
have nothing to be afraid of. It is always good to express ourselves in truth.
On the other hand, if we are the receiver of truth, how do we respond to it?
