While reading an article, I came across this Latin
phrase: Sic transit gloria mundi (Thus passes the glory of the world). This was
used upon the coronation of a new Pope, were the master of ceremony will say
loud in mournful voice three times this very phrase.
What a good reminder that nothing is permanent in this world; not glory, not wealth, not fame and not even self. It will do well to the people and to those in power to reflect on this. Everything passes away, so while we are here let us do something that will make this world a little bit of heaven on earth.
